TONY & RUTH STEAKS

Ruth Maldonado was born in Lades, Puerto Rico. She came to the United States in 1955. Ruth and her husband Antonio Maldonado were layedoff from their jobs. In desperation they borrowed money from friends and family. With that money they started their own restaurant business. At the age of 29 Ruth and Antonio opened Tony & Ruth in April of 1974. Ever since then their business has been thriving for 32 years. Tony & Ruth is a mile stone in the city of North Camden. It represents the hardship and success of Puerto Ricans in Camden.
